Military drones patrol the silent skies above a sterilized Tokyo to systematically confiscate any remaining traces of pop culture. A militant parallel dimension known as True Kuni recently conquered Japan and strictly outlawed all forms of anime, manga, and retro gaming. Hosomichi Kudo survives under this oppressive regime by running a shady host club to pay off his massive financial debts. His cynical hustle collapses completely when he stumbles into a secret underground resistance faction named Arahabaki. This rogue organization deploys specialized mecha units to defend the last hidden sanctuaries of geek culture. These massive machines cannot run on standard fuel sources and require the intense passion of Battery Girls like the dedicated anime fanatic Rin Akagi to operate. The former host reluctantly agrees to pilot a giant robot powered entirely by her raw obsession just to clear his mounting debts. He soon finds himself managing the eccentric energies of an underground idol named Yuki Aoba and a retro gaming hacker named Misa Kuroki to keep the rogue faction operational. The cynical pilot must carefully balance the volatile emotional states of these dedicated fans to win skirmishes against the authoritarian forces and secure his own financial freedom.
