| Minutes after touching down on the frontier world of McPa for a routine week-long survival camp, nine high school students watch in confusion as a silent sphere of light expands across the landing clearing. The luminous anomaly engulfs the entire group without warning, instantly transporting them thousands of light-years away into the freezing vacuum of deep space. Athletic captain Kanata Hoshijima immediately scrambles into action, directing rescue tether maneuvers through zero gravity to secure his gasping peers, including photographic-memory savant Aries Spring. Their frantic survival scramble yields an unexpected shelter when the drifting adolescents breach the airlock of an abandoned starship floating near an asteroid cluster. Inside the sealed bridge, sharp-minded pilot Zack Walker reactivates the central navigation grid, uncovering the grim reality that they are stranded more than five thousand light-years from home. With the long-range transmitter severed from the inside, ship medic Quitterie Raffaëlli and the rest of the crew realize their exile was orchestrated rather than accidental. Charting an arduous, planet-hopping course across uncharted solar systems provides their only viable route to scavenge fresh water and edible provisions from volatile alien biospheres. Faced with hostile extraterrestrial wildlife, scarce oxygen reserves, and the quiet dread of an anonymous operative among their ranks, nine disparate youths must learn to trust one another with their lives.
