Thanks! Gosh, I’m really enjoying these new chinese anime additions!
Always nice to see chinese ONAs posted.
I’m a bit confused with this one though.
MAL has season2 listed under 2 different entries (Part 1 & Part 2) and it says that Part 1 has 5 episodes whereas Part 2 has 10. Now here on Hi10 season 2 was posted with only 10 episodes, are we missing Part 1?
It even gets more confusing when checking AniDB, there season2 appears to have 2 different entries as well but one has 5 episodes and the other 12 and both of these are not tagged as sequel/prequel but rather as ‘Alternative version’ !
S1 = Zhen Hun Jie
S2 = Zhen Hun Jie: Bei Luo Shi Men Pian Part 1 (5 episodes) + Part 2 (5 episodes)
When consuming Chinese media, you have to discard your knowledge about Japanese anime episode standards. China doesn’t follow the seasons in Japan, they release episodes whenever they want. No pattern, it all depends on politics and marketing.
A classic example is Mo Dao Zu Shi. If you have a WeTV subscription, you will see that there are no “SEASONS” for the franchise, it only increases the episode count for the title. There’s also no exact episode count per release group, S1 could be 12 then S2 could be 10 episodes only.
Regarding the Part 2 that is listed with 10 episodes in MAL and other anime listing sites:
• The first 3 episode are identical to the original season, while episode 4-5 have been remastered
• New content starts from episode 6
Chinese producers like to do this “episode stunts” for some reason.
I hope this clears out your confusion. ONE MUST NOT COMPARE JAPANESE ANIME WITH CHINESE ANIME, at least in terms of episode numbering practices.
I suggest that you also watch this → https://hi10anime.com/archives/86553 if you want more confusion with Chinese anime practices.
Clarified!
btw gonna post an updated list now on discord of chinese ONAs with all their info that are still missing here on Hi10 that I think would be good additions.
Hope you can take a look, it’s on excel format.
Thank you so much for these, ZASH! I’ve already enjoyed S1 tremendously (in 2017!). I’m so glad I can finally wach S2.
If you’re craving for a memorable Shonen I highly recommend “Rakshasa Street” (also know as “Zhen Hun Jie).
S3 up
